Like other medical specialists, pulmonologists may work in a private medical practice or a hospital, and often in fast-paced environments. Pulmonologists who help treat sleep disorders work in sleep study clinics. If you treat chronic breathing problems, you may work in a pulmonary rehabilitation clinic. Depending on your patients’ needs, you may work closely with other doctors. In each work environment, you must be prepared to assess sudden breathing changes.
