How to become a pulmonologist?

There are several qualifications required to become a pulmonologist. First, you need to get your bachelor’s degree, preferably in anatomy or biology. During this time, it’s beneficial to gain initial experience and skills by completing an internship in a hospital. Once you graduate, you must complete a four-year medical school program, and then finish your residency in internal medicine. After that, you must complete a fellowship, which may take two to three years. Your fellowship focuses on pulmonary diseases and also helps you prepare for the board exam in pulmonary medicine. Once you pass your exam and become licensed, you can practice as a pulmonologist.
