An addictions counselor assistant works for an addiction or substance abuse counselor. Work settings range from therapists offices and homeless shelters to the health care system. People in this position also commonly find jobs at a rehabilitation facility or hospital. Sometimes a health care system or hospital employs an addictions counselor assistant to help with treatment when a patient comes in with drug or alcohol-related illnesses.
