An academic coach helps guide students to achieve academic success. They may work in an elementary school or middle school, but more commonly find employment at a high school working with people as they prepare for college and their career. Colleges, universities, and vocational schools hire coaches to help students pass their classes and achieve a strong GPA. Common duties are to help students cultivate strong study skills, prepare for exams, complete online job applications, and finish college admissions requirements. Qualifications for an academic coach include a bachelor’s degree in education or a related field. Many people in this career choose to pursue certification from the National Tutoring Association.
