The duties of a diving coach are to instruct athletes at a club or school, helping to develop young athletes. There are positions in community programs especially during the summer to teach swimming and diving lessons for all ages and skill levels. Once you have extensive experience and have developed a reputation as a diving coach, you may have the opportunity to train Olympians. This type of training is usually done one-on-one and requires rigorous practice and preparation as well as attention to technique and skill. Qualifications to become a diving coach include a bachelor’s or master’s degree and competitive diving and swimming experience.
