Food technologists can work with any food product. Common products include frozen foods, products, snacks, sugar and confectionery, and drinks. They may also work higher in the supply chain producing products used by other food manufacturers, such as oils, grains, and concentrates. According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, as of May 2017, California, New Jersey, and Texas employ the most food technologists and scientist.
