What tools do plastic surgeons use?

Career: Plastic Surgeon

Plastic surgeons use a wide variety of tools, depending on the procedure they are performing. As a plastic surgeon, you use many general surgery tools, like forceps, scissors, retractors, sutures, scalpels, drapes, and suction devices. You also use specialized instruments unique to plastic surgery, such as chisels, mallets, silicone and saline implants, rhinoplasty knives, breast elevators, silicone sheets, facelift scissors, and various bone and cartilage shaping tools. The tools used vary greatly, but all surgical instruments and tools must be sterilized prior to each surgery to ensure patients’ health and wellbeing.
