What do plastic surgeons wear?

Career: Plastic Surgeon

Like most medical and healthcare professionals, plastic surgeons usually wear scrubs--lightweight, cotton jumpers. In larger hospitals, scrubs are color-coded by department to make it easy to tell which division an employee works in. When conducting office visits, surgeons often wear business casual attire and perhaps a lab coat. Before procedures, they put on protective coverings, such as masks, hats, and gloves, to prevent contact with bodily fluids and maintain a sterile surgical area. Surgeons spend many hours on their feet, so investing in sturdy, comfortable, and supportive footwear is a must.
