What is a telesales agent?

A telesales agent is a customer service representative that works as a part of a sales team. In this role, you answer customer questions when they call and offer information to meet their needs rather than relying on high-pressure sales tactics. Your job duties include using the phone to contact potential customers, selling products over the telephone, asking questions and updating customer information, processing orders, and typing all relevant information into the database. There are no universal education requirements for this career, but you may need at least a high school diploma or GED certificate. Qualifications include interpersonal and communication skills and proven sales experience, preferably over the telephone.
