What is a retail agent?

A retail agent works in the insurance industry and acquires insurance coverage from companies or brokers for clients. As a retail agent, you may work with auto, health, life, or other types of insurance. You research the benefits of different insurance companies and determine the policy that best meets your client’s needs. There are no formal education requirements to become a retail agent in insurance, but you need to have excellent organizational and communication skills.
