What is a recruiting consultant?

A recruiting consultant finds eligible candidates for vacant positions at their client’s companies. In this role, you determine what kind of employee your client needs, and then you find job seekers who match that criteria. Your responsibilities include advertising positions in various media outlets, reviewing applications, screening candidates, and conducting initial interviews to ensure the applicant is a good fit before forwarding their resume to your client. Some recruiting consultants also participate in negotiating salaries between the job candidate and employer. You typically need to find several candidates for each position and are paid a commission if the company hires a candidate that you found.
