What is a coatings inspector?

Career: Coatings Inspector

A pipeline coating inspector or coatings inspector is a specialized quality control technician who works primarily with protective coatings and materials on pipes, such as paint. Many of their job duties are similar to non-specialized inspectors, ensuring projects remain compliant and stay within determined specifications. A pipeline coating inspector should be familiar with surface prep, application techniques, ambient conditions, and quality control for common coating materials used in pipeline projects. Many people in this specialization have a background or experience in the oil or gas industry. Additional qualifications include completion of the NACE (National Association of Corrosion Engineers) Coating Inspector Program.
