What is a financial aid counselor?

Career: Financial Aid

A financial aid counselor or advisor provides financial counseling services for students. Similar to a financial aid assistant, you perform assessments and reviews of financial aid applications and verify applicant eligibility. You follow all federal and institutional procedures in verifying applicants and then set up specific aid packages for each student based on their assessments. As a financial aid counselor, you also provide entry and exit interviews, which are designed to explain to aid disbursement to students and how what types of repayment plans are available.
