What is a business banker?

A business banker, also known as a commercial or investment banker, works in a financial institution to develop a relationship with their clients, learn and understand their business goals, manage their business portfolios, and help them learn to manage their finances successfully. In this career, your job duties include suggesting the right service or product for their needs like stocks, loans, bonds, insurance policies, real estate, payment processing solutions and more. Customer service and communication skills are vital. You also sometimes lead a bank’s advisory department and supervise financial advisors or loan officers. This means some employers expect experience in a leadership role.
