What does an HVAC apprentice do?

As an HVAC apprentice, your job is to learn about heating, ventilation, and air conditioning units. This typically takes the form of working part-time while attending training at a local accredited program for the HVAC trade, but some companies provide all training internally if their systems are unique enough. In some locations, the apprenticeship is split into different levels based on your existing skills. This job involves learning how HVAC systems are installed and repaired in each type of building, which mechanical skills are necessary to install, repair, and remove these temperature systems, and how to identify operational concerns like facility damage or faulty alarms. HVAC apprentices often manage and operate equipment and work under the supervision of a journeyman or senior-level employee.
