An editor oversees the creation and direction of content for a publication. As an editor, your job duties include managing staff writers, editorial assistants, fact checkers, and proofreaders in addition to planning the content for your print or online publication, developing content ideas, overseeing the submission process, and approving final versions of articles prior to publication. As an assistant editor, you oversee a particular team or department, while as an executive editor, you’re responsible for the publication as a whole.
