What does an AME do?

An aircraft maintenance engineer (AME) works on various types of equipment. Their duties involve diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repair in relation to aircraft safety, security, and maintenance responsibilities. An aircraft maintenance engineer may also focus on specific systems such as the electrical components or the engine. They must comply with regulations set forth by the Federal Aviation Administration. An AME is expected to keep detailed records on all work they do on a particular aircraft as part of these duties. This is a physically challenging position.
