What does a weekend nurse practitioner do?

A weekend nurse practitioner, or weekend NP, provides healthcare services for patients during a weekend shift. Some weekend NPs only work on the weekends, while others have a varied schedule and work during the week depending on staffing needs. As a nurse practitioner, you provide primary care to patients. As part of your responsibilities, you may examine and diagnose patients, prescribe medication, and offer treatment. You may perform your duties independently or under the supervision of a physician. Weekend NP positions are available in hospitals, clinics, urgent care facilities, nursing homes, and other health care settings that operate during the weekends.
