What does a retail area manager do?

As a Retail Area Manager, you will oversee the operation of multiple retail store locations within a designated geographic area. Your responsibilities will include shaping the success and profitability of each store. You will frequently visit the different locations, and you will be expected to motivate and inspire store managers and to use your retail experience and leadership skills to resolve problems. At times, you’ll act as a sounding board for store managers as they seek to improve performance or deal with internal problems. Retail Area Managers can be called upon to ensure compliance with company policies and to recruit and replace top local management when need arises.
