What does a meteorologist intern do?

Meteorologist interns are assigned to a supervising meteorologist to gain hands-on experience in interpreting weather patterns. Your specific job duties may vary, depending on the organization and your supervisor. But your general responsibilities may include gathering information from different sources of weather data, analyzing the collected data, looking for specific weather patterns, observing and adjusting equipment, using communication systems, operating weather application software, and determining the forecast. You learn how to predict atmospheric changes and familiarize yourself with the program used to track and collect information for research purposes. A meteorologist intern also assists a senior meteorologist in administrative tasks as necessary.
