A data steward is responsible for an organization’s data governance and data elements. Organizations often hire data stewards when they are exchanging data between computer systems. Data stewards are specialists and understand every aspect of working with data. Central to a data steward’s job is maintaining data quality. This means that, as a data steward, you must capture all meta-information related to the data you manage, including definitions, physical manifestation, rules/governance, and related data models. In this role, you also oversee the accurate documentation of a company’s data.
