What does a CCHT do?

A Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) monitors patients as they undergo dialysis treatment for kidney disease or other kidney illnesses. In this role, you set up, run, and clean dialysis machines, greet patients when they arrive, explain what they may experience during the procedure, and ensure patients are comfortable while they are connected to the device. You may also administer local anesthesia, address physical or emotional concerns that patients may have about their treatment, coordinate care with nurses and doctors, and respond to emergencies within the dialysis clinic. CCHTs occasionally create training material for new staff members or pamphlets for patient education.
