What do forestry workers do?

Career: Forestry

Forestry workers perform tasks set out by a company or a forest manager. In this career, your job duties may include planting trees, clearing brush, cutting down trees, performing controlled burns, fighting forest fires, and collecting measurements and other data for forestry scientists. Forestry workers usually need a high school diploma or GED certificate, and employers may provide on-the-job training. An associate’s degree in forestry can improve your chances of getting hired as a forestry worker. Some states mandate that specific workers, such as those who are involved in logging or the use of pesticides, obtain a license before starting work.
