Planner jobs can refer to a broad array of very different jobs, and it is important to recognize the differences. Party and event planning is a very different affair from what government certified planners do. For example, urban and community planners determine ways to improve community health and wellbeing. You can be a conference planner for a county or a transportation planner in a large city. There are planners within marketing companies, certified financial planners, vacation, production, environmental planners, and more. A military facilities planner assists with asset management projects for the Department of Defense. Facility planners create budget estimates, site plans and environmental procedure checklists for improvement projects. Land use planners assist with the land development of multifamily, retail, and hospitality properties.
