What is a Release Train Engineer?

A Release Train Engineer (RTE) is a servant leader and coach responsible for facilitating Agile Release Trains (ARTs) in organizations that use the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe). The RTE helps coordinate the work of multiple Agile teams, manages risks and dependencies, and ensures smooth delivery of value across the ART. They guide teams through program increments, facilitate key events like PI Planning, and help resolve obstacles to keep the train on track. RTEs play a crucial role in enabling consistent and effective delivery of large, complex projects.
