What is an Inca?

The Inca were a South American civilization that established the largest empire in pre-Columbian America, primarily in what is now Peru, from the early 15th century until the Spanish conquest in the 16th century. They are known for their advanced architecture, agriculture, and road systems, as well as their unique social and religious organization. The Inca Empire, also called Tawantinsuyu, included millions of people and stretched across the Andes Mountains. Their capital was Cusco, and Machu Picchu is one of their most famous archaeological sites. The Inca left a significant cultural legacy that still influences the region today.
