How to become an oil rig worker?

Career: Oil Rig Worker

You may start an oil rig career with a high school diploma or GED certificate. Rigs may have apprenticeships or offer assistant positions for those who want to learn the skills to gain a management-level position. Oil rig workers must typically undergo safety training such as Basic Offshore Safety Instruction and Emergency Training (BOSIET). Rig workers based in the United States may also need a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC). Additional qualifications include the physical stamina and strength to work 12-hour shifts and move equipment, as well as the ability to handle oil rig tools and machinery.
