How to become an abstractor?

Becoming an Abstractor will most likely require you to earn a college education. Relevant degrees include business or paralegal studies. This job requires an in-depth knowledge of a variety of fields, including insurance, finance, wills and trusts, and real estate law. Possessing skills in strong reading comprehension, writing and communication, and the ability to problem-solve are also beneficial. You can earn experience in this field by working in insurance or real estate, or by working for a law firm. You may also want to consider becoming certified through the National Association of Land Titles Examiners and Abstractors (NALTEA) to demonstrate that your knowledge in the field has been vetted.
