How to become a textbook editor?

The qualifications that you need to become a textbook editor depend on your role. To work as a copy editor, you usually need a degree in English, communications, or a related field. Managing editors often have a degree in education or the topic for which they create textbooks. Some employers prefer applicants who have extensive experience working in other publishing positions before applying for an editor job. You also need to be familiar with both general style guides and accepted terminology and language style for the subject of the textbook. All editors must have excellent grammar, writing, and proofreading skills.
