How to become a termite inspector?

To become a termite inspector, you need a high school diploma or a GED certificate. This job doesn't require a college degree, but because termite inspectors work with dangerous pesticides used in the treatment and prevention of termites, you need to earn your license. Depending on your state's time requirements, you can do so by landing a job shadowing a licensed termite inspector for several months and then applying for the licensing exam. Alternatively, you can gain experience and skills through certification. You will learn how to recognize and treat wood-damaging pests and damage and take a correspondence course to prepare yourself for the exam. Passing a background check may also be required. Once you’re licensed, you can start working independently or with your new employer. You will need to renew your license about every two years to continue as a pest control worker.
