How to become a subsea engineer?

The primary qualifications for becoming a subsea engineer are a bachelor's degree and some experience with oceanic work. Most employers prefer applicants who have a master's degree, preferably in subsea engineering or a closely related area. This is harder to accomplish than most other degrees because only a few colleges offer a master's degree in this field. As a result, you may need to travel out of state to get this degree. You can also become a subsea engineer with a background in ocean, mechanical, or petroleum engineering, but these are not quite as useful as the subsea engineering degree. Fulfilling the responsibilities and duties of a subsea engineer requires attention to detail, the ability to memorize complex information about the impact of pressure and corrosion on different materials, and often the ability to work as part of a larger engineering team.
