There are no formal education requirements to become a service engineer, but many employers prefer candidates with an associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field. Become proficient in the mechanics of various types of machinery and equipment, learning how they work and what to look for when troubleshooting problems. Apprentice with an experienced service engineer to gain experience in the field. Some positions also provide on-the-job training for those new to the industry.
