How to become a school cook?

There is no formal education required to become a school cook, also known as a cafeteria cook. School cafeteria workers do need to complete sanitation, safety, and food preparation training before they are allowed to prepare lunches for students. Previous job experience in an industrial kitchen setting may be preferred by employers, along with any food prep or safety certifications. Continuing education in safe kitchen and food prep practices may be required while on the job.
