How to become a restaurant operations manager?

Career: Restaurant Operations Manager

Most restaurant operations managers have worked extensively in restaurants; they usually work for several years in supervisory or managerial roles before moving into the operations manager position. Some employers prefer restaurant operations managers to have a bachelor's degree in hospitality, culinary arts, business administration, or a related field, but hands-on experience in a restaurant is valued more than formal education. Many start their careers as a server or line cook and work their way up to shift manager and other supervisory roles to learn all the different parts that are required to keep a restaurant running smoothly before seeking restaurant operations manager positions.
