How to become a ramp agent?

Career: Ramp Agent

The primary qualifications to become a ramp agent are strong communication skills and a high school diploma. These agents frequently interact with people in and around an airplane, manage tight time constraints, and work as part of a team. Fulfilling the responsibilities of this position require the ability to lift up to 60 pounds and basic computer skills. Due to the sensitive nature of the job, ramp agents typically need to pass a background investigation that includes a fingerprint check, a criminal history check, and a drug test. The role of a ramp agent is to help load and unload cargo or baggage, direct and service aircraft, and perform other tasks in and around the airport ramp. This is the part of the airport where planes are parked, refueled, loaded, unloaded, and boarded by passengers at the gate.
