Acquiring a position as a process safety engineer requires several qualifications, starting with a bachelor’s degree in chemical, mechanical, or another engineering field. Upon graduating, you must take the Fundamentals of Engineering exam and working as an engineer for four years. After you get work experience, you have the skills to take the Professional Engineering exam. Upon passing, you must seek licensure in the state where you plan to work as an engineer. If you pass all your exams, acquiring a license requires paying a fee and showing evidence of credentials.
