To pursue a career as a matron in nursing, you must meet several educational qualifications as well as having significant professional experience in the nursing field. You need a bachelor’s of science degree in nursing (BSN) and licensure as a registered nurse (RN), which requires you to have passed the NCLEX-RN examination. Many employers prefer matron job seekers to have a master’s degree in health administration or business administration. Previous supervisory experience is beneficial when seeking matron jobs. You also need computer skills, particularly involving database usage and electronic health records.
