To become a chief hotel engineer, you need multiple years of maintenance experience. You must be familiar with HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems, as well as general maintenance. It os important that you can read blueprints and manuals to fix problems with equipment, tools, and other devices. Some hotel engineers earn an associate or even a bachelor’s degree in a related field, but that is not a universal requirement. Additional qualifications for this career include strong communication, management experience, and technical skills with relevant equipment. Most employers provide on-the-job training. Certification and licensing are available and sometimes necessary for certain positions, especially those that involve servicing boilers.
