To pursue a career as a geological engineer, you need a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in geology, geological engineering, environmental engineering, or mining engineering from a college or university program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). You can obtain additional qualifications from the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying, such as the fundamentals of engineering (FE) credential and the professional engineer (PE) credential.
