A gallery assistant has many responsibilities, such as performing general administrative tasks, conducting research to gather information, working to assist others in the gallery, and communicating with different departments. Your duties in this career may also include working on an exhibit and helping to facilitate memos and other communication. Training in art history or a fine art field is an important qualification to have for this position. Other qualifications may include a GED certificate or high school diploma, computer proficiency, and the ability to perform basic secretarial skills. Some galleries may want their gallery assistant to have a background in secretarial work.
