How to become a compressor station operator?

There are several qualifications for becoming a compressor station operator. Regarding education, you need at minimum an associate degree in an industrial or mechanical field. You may also need experience as a mechanical or industrial engineer. You need experience working in compression, dehydration, and transportation of natural gas, and should understand the gas pipeline related to DOT and OSHA regulations. Compressor station operators need strong electrical skills and should be proficient with computers and human relations. It is beneficial if you have experience using Caterpiller or other reciprocating natural gas engines.
