To become a Medical Scribe, you need at least a high school diploma. Some hospitals and medical clinics prefer to hire Medical Scribes who have a college education. Additionally, some employers require Medical Scribes to complete training and certification programs. The American College of Medical Scribe Specialists (ACMSS) offers a Certified Medical Scribe program that requires candidates to complete 200 hours of clinical instruction and to pass an exam to earn certification.
