Although it is possible to become an international project manager without completing higher education, it is much more difficult. Generally, you need to pursue a bachelor’s degree in business administration, project management, finance, or a similar field to meet the requirements for this role. Getting an MBA is also beneficial. However, many employers also look for professional qualifications such as the International Project Management Associate (IPMA) certification. To qualify for this certification, you need to have a high school diploma and three years of experience as a project manager. The IPMA has four levels, labeled with the letters A through D. You can seek out level B or C and become a certified manager by passing a written exam.
