How do I become a water tester?

Career: Water Tester

Water testers can be employed by private companies or by local, state, or federal governments. The qualifications to take on a role privately are often different than for roles in the public sector. Either way, you are required to earn your bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, environmental science, or a similar area. Government employees may be required to earn a certification beyond their formal education. What certification is required depends on the level of government for which you are working, the systems in which you are an operator, and your specific state or local ordinances. If you wish to move beyond an entry-level position as a water tester, you should also consider earning a master's degree.
