In order to begin a career as a Biomedical Engineer, a candidate must first obtain a bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering or bioengineering from an accredited program. Studies typically include subjects such as biomaterials, fluid and solid mechanics, physiology, and computer programming. Many programs provide students with internship opportunities during their time in school. These can be excellent opportunities, as interning with a manufacturing company or hospital will prepare an aspiring Biomedical Engineer for the career path ahead, and make them more marketable to future employers.
