What is an HISD Learning Coach?

A HISD Learning Coach is an individual, often a parent or guardian, who supports a student enrolled in the Houston Independent School District's virtual or remote learning programs. Learning Coaches help facilitate the student’s daily learning activities, keep them on track with assignments, and communicate with teachers as needed. Their role is to provide encouragement, structure, and assistance, ensuring the student understands course materials and stays engaged. While teachers provide instruction and assign curriculum, Learning Coaches play a vital support role at home.
