Do illustrators make good graphic designers?

Career: Illustrator

Illustrators who have completed art school will have taken courses in graphic design, along with classes in fine arts and traditional mediums. Because they understand how to create visually captivating images with conventional methods, they can usually transition to graphic design fairly quickly. They would need to become proficient in graphic design software; they can learn how to use graphic design applications by taking courses online or at a vocational school. The reverse is not always true though. Those with graphic design degrees often concentrate studies solely on learning computer software and product design and may not be as knowledgable in more traditional methods of illustration.
