CTRs, or Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialists, are professionals who use recreational activities as a form of therapy to help individuals with disabilities, injuries, or illnesses improve their physical, emotional, and social well-being. They assess client needs, develop treatment plans, and implement recreational programs aimed at enhancing quality of life. CTRs work in a variety of settings, including hospitals, rehabilitation centers, nursing homes, and community agencies. To become a CTRS, one typically needs a relevant bachelor's degree and certification through the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC).
