What is an associate AMFT?

An Associate AMFT, or Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, is an individual who has completed a qualifying graduate program in marriage and family therapy and is registered with the appropriate state board as an associate. This designation allows them to gain supervised clinical experience required for full licensure as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT). Associate AMFTs work under the supervision of licensed professionals to provide therapy to individuals, couples, and families, focusing on relationships and mental health. They must complete a certain number of supervised hours and pass relevant exams before becoming fully licensed MFTs.
