What is an Army ROTC officer?

Army ROTC Officers are commissioned leaders in the United States Army who began their military careers through the Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) program at a college or university. ROTC is a college-based program that prepares students to become officers by combining academic education with military training and leadership development. Upon graduation and successful completion of the ROTC program, cadets are commissioned as Second Lieutenants in the U.S. Army, Army Reserve, or Army National Guard. These officers lead soldiers, manage resources, and are responsible for the welfare and training of their units.
